"Best thing I've bought for $10 in a long time" 2009-10-09

"Opteka Remote for my CANON XSI" 2009-10-09
By LORRI (ELKHART, IN United States)
This remote is amazing, and it's easy to set your camera up to use it. I love it... Been taking family photos like Crazy.... And it was a great price, and fast shipping.. What more could I ask for...

"Not as small as the Canon branded remote, but works just as well for less $" 2009-10-05
By N. D. Slater (Folsom, California)
The remote works just fine, range as expected. Only downside to choosing this remote over the canon branded one is that the canon one is a lot smaller and will attach to your neck strap. I gave it 5 stars because it is 1/3-1/2 the price of the canon remote.

 "Works great, awesome price" 2009-09-29
By Billy (Los Angeles, CA)
This wireless remote works great. Some people complain about the distance, but the technical details clearly states up to 16ft working distance, which is plenty for my needs. I love this wireless remote and the fact that I am finally in some of my own pictures. I look forward to doing self-portraits. Definitely worth getting.

"Good if used on very short distance." 2009-09-27
By Isabelle Lacazotte (Modesto, CA)
I used it while I was camping. I didn't have any problem to set it up but i was surprised about how short the distance between the remote and the camera must be to be able to control the shot. And you must be just in front so It took me some acrobatics movement to be able to take some shoots during our fire-camp. Other than that it's a great little remote, very light but just not what i need.

 "Glad I bought it!" 2009-09-22
By Brandon Mawhorter
Very easy to use. Just flip your camera into the remote mode and your all set. Works great! I have been using it for night shots so I don't have to touch the camera preventing any shake. I haven't tested the range yet but it seems to do fine. I am glad I bought it.

 "camera remote" 2009-09-18
By MaryLaura
This remote works as it is advertised, but not to the extent that we needed.

 "works great" 2009-09-17
By cancer skool (USA)
Yes, you have to be at least somewhat in front of it for it to work, but not directly in front of it. you can definitely be at an obtuse angle from the lens and it will still work. It automatically focuses with a half press just like the camera does, which is fantastic.

"works when it wants to" 2009-09-14
By Janelle M. Hayward (Largo, FL)
ive had this product for well over a year and it pisses me off most of the time. if you arent within 4 feet of the camera you just end up clicking the button wildly 20 times until it finally goes off when your not ready. lol.. but i still use it rather than setting the timer on the camera. keeps you from walking back and forth if you are taking multiple pictures.

 "awesome" 2009-09-14
By L. Howland (usa)
I love this little remote. The price was great. The delivery was fast.

 "Disappointing quality" 2009-09-13
By tpbolts (South Bend, IN)
I initially purchased the item in Jul 2009 - received the item but the item was not working right out of the box - error message about paper jam when there was no paper in it. Amazon replaced the item & the 2nd printer is no longer working since yesterday (09/12) and it was use for infrequent personal use. Will be on the phone first thing Monday (09/14) with tech support. Very disappointed with Cannon

"Wireless has a couple of meanings" 2009-09-13
By Canon Fan (Rural Hall, NC)
This is a pretty good printer. I tend to favor Canon over HP only because I've had better experiences with Canon inkjet printers, and HP always wants to install some memory hungry software (and really their printers don't perform very well, except for the LaserJets.)

The MX860 has some really great features, but my issue is that it is promoted as wireless. I think it should be marketed as semi-wireless. Yes, as another reviewer indicated, it is wireless if you have a router.

But, it does not support ad hoc networking. So, if you can't connect to a router you can't go wireless. The exception is that you can use bluetooth for printing. A BIG exception! Search the web and try to find a BU-30 device available within a reasonable delivery timeframe, it doesn't come with the printer.

But, thank goodness the MX860 comes with a USB cable, so I can send print jobs to this "wireless" printer through a USB connection.

"Very good performance, but setup can be challenging" 2009-09-13
By Caveat Emptor (NC)
Printing performance is quite good for all types of output--photos, color graphics, text, envelopes, etc. Not surprisingly, however, the most significant advantage of this printer is the convenience of wireless access for all computers within its range. Achieving this requires a somewhat complicated installation process for the printer itself, followed by installation of the printer/fax drivers and associated software on each computer on the network. Although a bit time-consuming, the process was generally smooth except for one particular laptop (actually the newest computer on the network). The software works intuitively, so you won't need to keep the manual at your side. Among its useful features are operation as a standalone color or black-and-white copier, an efficient document feeder for scanning, and direct creation of Acrobat PDF documents.

 "just what I wanted" 2009-09-12
By Perle des Antilles (New York, USA)
This was remarkably easy to set up. I'm not an electronic expert by any means, but I was able to set it up, including the wireless connection to two desktop computers and a laptop, with no real difficulty (just be sure you remove everything orange -- tape, protective covers on the cartridges). I would say the cartridges are lasting longer than the ones on the HP that this replaces. My only complaint is that the paper tray is tucked in so you can't tell that you're running low just by glancing at it. Not a big deal.

 "Great printer" 2009-09-12
By BigMtnSkier (New York, NY USA)
This printer does it all and produces great quality work for an ink jet printer as well as great photo printing results. The fact that it has built-in wireless capability was a huge selling point for me. My only complaint with the printer is that the scanning features do NOT work in wireless mode with Windows XP (this is why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars), this is do to the interface between Canon and Windows. Both companies claim its the other company who needs to develop the right driver I tend to believe that it's an issue with Microsoft's OS and not Canon. Other than that this is the most printer and quality you will get at this price point.

 "amazing printer" 2009-09-16
By pheatherqyll (Tacoma, WA)
I've been using Canon printers for many years now, and this is the best so far. I bought the wireless because it had all the features I wanted at the price I wanted to pay(not because I needed a wireless printer). Text is very clear and sharp. Pictures look good even on regular paper. I like the top being closed as my cat sits on the printer and the closed top keeps the cat hair out. Service from Amazon, as usual, was exceptional.

 "Very Slow" 2009-09-15
By J. Reilly (Staunton, VA USA)
Setup was buggy on Vista SP1, but what isn't. The driver installation failed with an application error the first time I tried it. Since it is Windows, I tried again. It worked fine the second time. Don't be afraid to just try it 3 times before cursing and calling tech support. (Installing on XP SP3 worked fine the first time.)

This printer is SLOOOOOW at the start. It takes a long time to power up (30-60 sec). And then it takes a long time for the first print/copy job. You can hear it initializing the printer heads for another 30-60 sec, even after you heard them banging around during power up. Power down is also very slow.

Once it starts printing, it is quiet and future jobs are faster.

The print quality is OK. Photos look a little yellow tinged, but go to a professional quality printer if you want a really nice photo to keep. It is good enough for kid's school projects.

It works well wirelessly, once it is set up.

I bought it because it was wireless and cheap. It is no faster than the USB HP PSC all-in-one that it replaced, and the photo printing color is worse. But you get what you pay for, and I paid only a little. If you want high quality photo printing, seek professional help, or spend more on your printer.

 "Really nice prints" 2009-09-15
By J. Larsen
I recently purchased this printer on a whim and am glad I did. I have had horrible experiences with the (last generation) of printers and expected more of the same with this printer. I am glad that I was so wrong. Photo prints that are hard to distinguish from 'real' film prints.

Very good printer.

Wireless setup was not nearly as easy as other here suggest. The manual is horrible, not worth the paper its written on. After an hour or two of swearing I managed to get everything working properly. This needs a 'quick start' poster, not some choose your own adventure manual.

Works great on my wireless network and I couldn't be happier in the end.

 "Nice Printer" 2009-09-14
By J. Irwin (Conroe, TX)
This printer was very easy to set up using USB on Windows. I haven't tried to set it up using wirless yet, hope to soon on laptop with Vista. Copies are crisp and clear, so are photos. Great value for little $$$.

 "A Very Versatile Printer/Scanner" 2009-09-13
By J. Hatfield (Flagstaff, AZ USA)
This is our second Canon printer, the first one being an MP460 which I still use. I have used both HP and Cannon printer/scanners, and both are good quality, but I find the scanning control software for the Cannon units is more flexible and gives me much more control of scanning jobs.

I love the wireless capability of the Canon MP620. We have three computers with the MP620 connected directly to one of them by a USB cable; the other two computers connect through my wireless network. It works great for both printing and scanning. It is great to be able to scan and print via a wireless connection from my laptop without either of the other two computers being turned on. I did have a little trouble getting one of my computers to talk with the MP620 over the network, but Canon's tech support is great and the problem was quickly fixed.

The MP620 uses multiple ink tanks for better printing of photographs; this and the wireless capability were the two main reasons I bought this unit. The separate print head is removable. I expect that ink replacement costs will be lower for the MP620 than for my MP460, which uses two ink cartridges with integrated print heads.

The MP620 has slots for several different types of memory cards. This makes it very easy to download pictures from my cell phone. When not downloading pictures, I leave a memory card in the MP620 to serve as a place for sharing files between our three computers; it is like have a small networked hard drive.

I highly recommend the MP620. It provides a lot of features for a very reasonable price (particularly at Amazon.com).
