 "Good GPS" 2010-04-18

By Victor D. Archibald

It is the only GPS I have owned but I find it easy to use. The manuel is good and was used only to start my use of the unit. The RF power sent to my radio is very weak and static is almost always there. It's speaker volume is almost to low to use when the windows are closed. That's the only complaint I have with it.  "Nice item............Sloppy shipping packaging." 2010-04-16

By Frank Wonke

When the package arrived, I opened it. The hardware for mounting the unit to the car and other accessories were packed loose in an open-top tray. There was no G.P.S. in sight. I called and explained to one of your personal that the G.P.S. was missing. I requested that they send me ONLY the missing G.P.S.

Later I was looking at the accessories I lifted-out the tray. There, just laying loose in what was the bottom of the shipping carton was the G.P.S. This was not a factory packaged item. Someone had either returned this item, or someone at your end had been playing with it.

I received a complete NEW G.P.S. with all the accessories. I contacted you folks, and shipped the NEW REPLACEMENT G.P.S. back to you.

I was DOUBLE BILLED. I had two statements of purchase on my computer. I STILL DO NOT KNOW IF I PAID TWICE. Will you kindly check to find-out if I paid only once, or did I pay twice. Bye the way......the product is nothing to brag-about.

 "Jim's Review" 2010-04-14

By James Thomas (LEBANON, PA, US)

pros: 1.screen size good,

2.touch screen function good.

3.'Where To' screen good, especially points of interest.

cons: 1.having to agree regarding use every time u switch on.

2.poor on off switch - very slow response.

3.marking corrections or via points on map not straight forward and cumbersome.

4.when travelling to the same destination the next time, it does not offer you the corrected version with the via points u marked.

5.sound quality is very poor normlly and it cannot be heard if window is even slightly opened.

6.sound through the radio using FM transmitter hopelessly bad due to static and interference.

7.Sometimes slow in advising direction to turn especially in built up areas. Garmin nüvi 760 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator

 "Very good GPS" 2010-04-13

By P. Malayil (Lansing, US)

I bought this unit for the precision and ease of use. For the price, it can't get better. Garmin has the best quality screens and map displays. It also performs much better in terms of reception and navigation compared to other brands. 760 can connect to your bluetooth enabled phone and bring your phone book and call information over. This is really useful. Use this with the FM transmission feature so that you can hear the other person through your car stereo. GPS volume is a little low per my standards and is not sufficient for conversation over phone. The mic works quite okay. I don't use it to play mp3s through the FM transmitter to my car stereo. The signal gets caught up between FM radio transmissions and music listening becomes quite annoying. Route planning is another feature that i use quite often and it works great as expected.

Had a tough time picking between this unit and the 265WT. After all the research, i gave priority to the fact that 700 series uses better technology for signal reception since this is a higher end series compared to 200 series. That means better precision and ability to track satellite in tougher conditions. My unit has only lost connectivity when i am way inside in mall parking lots. Also, where i live, they don't have live traffic. On the other side, i must admit that 265T has better direction displays. The green arrow on top left next to route display can be very useful in preparing for the turn.

If you are willing to spare few more bucks, go for 785T with all these features, traffic and real time lane displays.

My only complaint with Garmin is the lack of a technology like TomTom map share. From its description, it sounds very useful in keeping up with changes caused by road blocks and construction works. A moderated information sharing map is definitely the way to go.
