This was the fourth Canon PowerShot I have bought for my wife. I have had one four years ago that took a five foot fall onto pavement and other then a small scratch it worked fine. We have had the SX200IS for less then three months, never had an accident with it, kept it very clean, treated it like a baby. It just froze with the lens extended and said lense error on the screen and restart. It could not be restarted with even the battery removed and replaced. Canon said it would have to be sent in. The good news is we got it at [...] so returning and replacing it should be easy.

I was stunned at the quality of the HD video and the zoom photos on a safari in Tanzania. The 12X optical zoom and image stabilization from a moving vehicle while photographing lions, rhinos, cheetahs, etc. was unbelievable! Other members of my safari want copies of my video and photos.

My Canon SD1000 7.1MP camera takes better photos than the SX200. No, I am not exaggerating. The noise in the photos were unbearable. Please take this review to heart. I had to return this camera. I love Canon, but save some money and buy another model. I really liked all of the settings too. I just wish the photos were clearer.
EDIT: My camera may have been defective after all. Can't change my star rating though.
