I bought this unit a month ago. I won't get into all the pros and cons, but this unit is basically decent as it does somethings better than my Garmin Nuvi and somethings worse.
The issue I would like to highlight is that two weeks ago I did the software "Update" on TomTom Home and noticed AutoZoom no longer worked. I sent a note to TomTom and their Customer Service verified they TOOK AWAY that feature. I know some people are fans of the feature and some not, but for TomTom to REMOVE a feature from my unit AFTER I bought it is unjustified. Their other units allow you to turn the feature on or off and that's what they SHOULD have done. I liked the feature eventhough it would override your manual zoom selection too quickly. Now I have to take my eyes off the road to zoom-in manually at intersections TomTom what were you thinking????
I'm concerned what other features or performance I might lose on future TomTom updates. They offered no explanation of their actions and because of this I can't recommend their products.

This system is great! It has amazing features, and when I first plugged it into my computer it noticed that their is a new map, and it downloaded it and installed it for FREE! It has an amazing speaker (super loud and clear, you can even hear it over a car radio, which is great, because who wants to listen to nothing on a long trip :) ). The screen is beautiful and clearly displays the area around you. A cool feature is that nearby places show their business logo so you know what is around (like McDonalds shows the M arches), and this is right on the map, as you drive. It warns you when you are speeding, which is useful in areas you are not familiar with. I have no cons with this item, it is perfect in every way. I am so glad I bought this item! I believe I will have years of use out of this item, and am very pleased!

I'll preface this review by revealing the following:
- I am a software developer.
- My wife gave this product to me as a gift. I did not preview it in a store, which is *VERY* unfortunate!
Having said that, I will *UNLOAD* on TOMTOM for this awful GPS unit!
The device neither speaks not displays the upcoming street names!!! How awful and unacceptable is that!!!
The interface is poor and not very usable. The average person will likely have a very difficult time navigating the interface to input new destinations, etc.
It is clear to me - TOMTOM, in an effort to save money, outsourced/offshored both the design and development of this product to the lowest bidder. It led to absolutely dreadful and abhorrent product. I will *NEVER* buy a TOMTOM product again!!!

Oh - And as if things couldn't be any worse, the satellite signal takes many minutes to catch up after its first boot.

This navigator displays a lot of information. The smart lanes feature is useful for freeways and such. Overall, it's very good.
