Bought two of these for a long trip. Used them for both our digital rebel T1i and to have movies and music on our netbook for a long flight (without accessing the hard drive for longer battery life). No problems and they had the best price for a big brand at the time.

This product was excellent in expanding the storage capacity of my 3 yr laptop. It is an easy install and the price was right. I could have paid $85 for a 32G Sd card or $32 for this one. The SD card is a better medium than a flash drive. There is nothing sticking out of the computer. I had a 8G flash that broke off because it sticks out of the computer. I recommend SD over any other medium.

The 270 EX is great! I bought it to use mainly with my Canon G10 but I can also use it with my Canon 5D. This size is great for easy portability. I find myself using it more than my 430 EX. I wish it could rotate 180 degrees, but that is the trade to obtain the ease of use and portability.

I wanted a small shoe mounted flash for my G11. This is a great choice. It is small and light, has enough power for a small room, works well as a fill flash outdoors. fits in a shirt pocket, and has some bounce capabilities (but at its modest power, do not expect to be bouncing off of 18 foot ceilings!). It DOES NOT have IR auto-focus assist as all other EOS flashes. That is a big loss, but it keeps it small and light. This flash will go with me whenever I use my G11. It might even go on an SLR for a day outside when I need a small fill flash. It will not be a substitute for a real EOS flash like a 580EX. Then again, it is small and light!

I bought the 270EX for my Powershot G10, simply because the thought and usability of putting my 580EX II on a "point and shoot" camera is quite comical. The flash on the Powershot G10 isn't that bad, but I've got a Lensmate with a UV filter and the G10's onboard flash is effectively cut down and makes shadows because of the barrel of the Lensmate.
The decision came down to the 220EX and the 270EX. The 270EX's ability to bounce the flash towards the ceiling so I am not blinding my subjects is pretty nice. It also puts distance between the Lensmate, so I can have a "mini-SLR" rig instead of the full 5D Mark II and accessories. And the price difference was negligible.
Like anything, there's a tradeoff. Smaller flash units means less power, and thus less distance. Instead of the LCD I'm used to on my 580EX II, I've got to control everything from the camera's LCD, which is no real big deal. But since it's smaller, I'm more likely to carry it than not in a jacket pocket.
If you've got a Powershot G series camera, you might want to consider this flash. It's worked fine for me, and would probably even work if you had one of the Digital Rebel series instead of the 430EX II. But like anything photography related, you get what you pay for BUT the more you spend, the more time it takes to adequately learn it.

Ok, I needn't repeat the accolades already laid on the VIXIA HF S100. I agree with most of them. I especially appreciate the still camera's high resolution. I think Canon has missed a few things, however.
I would like a way to add a stronger flash for stills. There is no hot-shoe or PC socket.
The socket for connecting the AC charger is slightly recessed and is equipped with a permanently mounted protector cover. This makes it very difficult to insert (or remove) the L-shaped plug from the charger. A straight plug would work better.
My biggest complaint is with the camera's side-grip. I simply cannot use it. I have to use two hands when shooting. Of course, I know that's a better approach anyway, but there are times when it's not practical. Canon could either lengthen the adjustable strap by an inch (or more) and/or raise the attachment points for each end of the strap. I can actually adjust the strap so it works with my hand but then it isn't long enough to still fit under the Velcro to lock it into place. Raising it would also help in accessing the connections under the grip.
I too have issues with the lens cover which works like eye-lids on springs. I chose to add a UV filter and a clip-on lens-cap for extra security when transporting the camera.
The instructions seem to say that you cannot use the camera with the older NTSC (non-HD) TV. I think it works fine using the provided AV cord.

My previous camcorder was a Sony purchased about 8 years ago and using miniDV tapes. Needing to upgrade, I wanted a camcorder that would record HD and liked the option of using memory cards. I was persuaded to buy the Canon Vixia HFS100 after reading some excellent reviews about it. I have had this now for over a month and suffice to say it is indeed EXCELLENT. The following is my experience with the HFS 100 over the past 6 weeks.
While researching this camcorder I found a few consistent critiques, which bothered me at that time. These were:
1. Lack of an optical viewfinder
2. Poor performance in low light
3. A clicking sound as the lens cap does not close fully and
4. Complexity of the menu.
My take on these 4 points:
1. The viewfinder - not a problem for me. I like the idea of viewing on the screen to shoot. I find it more easy and less cumbersome than squinting through a narrow optical viewfinder anyway.
2. Next the low light - This was the one critique I was most concerned about before purchasing the HFS100. After using it, I am not sure if the reviews I read were written by people who did not know how to use the menu options, or there are some defective pieces about. I had absolutely no problems with low light. There is a convenient night shooting mode that works very well indoors, and there is a flash light that pops up to increase illumination when needed. Shooting indoors and outdoors, for me at least, has been without any issues.
3. It is true that there is a clicking sound, but it really did not bother me. I was more thankful that the lens automatically closed itself after every shoot and thus protected the lens.
4. Finally the menu - anyone who has used a digital camera and can navigate menus, will not have any difficulty. In the interest of disclosure, I have a Canon SLR camera, and found the menu options extremely easy to navigate and use, esp as they were very similar to my SLR camera menus. The menu is very well designed and practical to use. The options are many and makes the process of shooting more appealing. or those who may not be so concerned with the multiple choices, there are simple shooting modes. If you are in the habit of navigating menus with SLR cameras, this should be a cakewalk.
Having discussed and given my take on the often quoted negatives, let me switch to positives.
1. WEIGHT: It is an INCREDIBLY LIGHT camcorder and a joy to use.
2. VIDEO: This is what I purchased the camcorder for! The video image clarity and range of colors are simply STUNNING and to be seen to be believed.
3. BATTERY: The battery snaps easily in place, is perfectly flush with the camera (yes, even the backup battery) and has a decent lifespan. I would recommend a second battery though. Regarding charging, I find it quite convenient charging on the camcorder itself.
4. MEMORY CARD SLOT: Loading and unloading memory cards into the camcorder are very easy. I had a bad experience with one of the Transcend cards I purchased though - it failed after one use and I lost a lot of precious memories.
5.DOWNLOADING: All I have to do is hook it up into a USB cardreader and plug it into my Macbook (Leopard OS), open up iMovie and the whole thing pretty much downloads itself in high-def - I absolutely love the convenience of the whole thing.
Having never owned a Canon camcorder before, I found everything about the HFS 100 superb. It is clear that Canon has taken time to think over all the details and has made a camcorder that is great in quality, ease of use and convenience. Overall, I rate this camcorder very highly after 6 weeks of use, and am absolutely delighted with my purchase. I would recommend it without hesitation.

This is a much improved camcorder.
pros:
good image resolution and color management
small size, better manual controls and good lens
cons:
continous focus unstable (hunting)
min lens focus length too long (it is easier to add tele converter)
noisy still pictures (no reason why can not do better since canon has good DSRL with this size of chip)

This flash is a great flash. The other night, My wife and I heard something in the trees behind our house. I grabbed my Canon t1i and this flash and my 55-250mm lens. Started taking pictures at the area where the sound was coming from. Sure enough, there were 2 raccoons way up in the trees. this flash was able to pick them off from about 200mm in the tree. Great Flash!

This is well worth the money as in my experience all Canon products are. I took many photos where the subjects are back lighted and the flash made a perfect photo. The multiple angles adjustment allow the photographer to keep the reflection caused by a mirror etc, of the flash from showing up in the photo. Nice equipment.

I had high expectations for a $250 flash, and was not disappointed. We primarily bought it because the built-in flash for my XTi wasn't recycling fast enough; after 5-10 shots it was too slow to be useful. This EX430 is *fast*, tho; faster than the camera in "auto" mode.
My wife is the primary user, and in "full auto" mode it is a fantastic addition to the camera. I recommend the $10 diffuser, but even without the flash does great with the bounce.

My wife wanted to get more into photography. So I started by getting her a wide angle lens. She loved the lens, but the built-in flash couldn't be used with it because of the hood. So I researched a flash for her. The Speedlite 430ex is a great flash. It pivots easily, allowing the flash to bounce off of a lite-colored surface so that the whole picture is illuminated instead of just bleaching out the target. So far, we've had no problems with the flash. We are new to this, so we haven't had time to play with all of the features though. We have only owned the flash for about 2 months.

Amateur photographer here using a Canon Rebel XSi, got the speedlite in and installed using Energizer 2500mAh rechargeable batteries (requires 4)
I am pleased with the size of the flash, I was concerned it would be too big, its about the same size as the the Canon 55-250mm zoom lens in width and length.
I took it out of the well packaged box and included case, install the batteries connected it to the camera and turned it on, directed the flash straight up and started snapping pictures in the house with only outside light in the room. the flash totally illuminated the room, the pictures were very clear well lit and no shadows.
I know that there are plenty of reviews for this flash and you may not even read this one, but if you are going to invest the money to buy a decent DSLR such as the Canon Rebel line and plan on doing any indoor picture taking go ahead and get this flash as well, the built in flash on the camera is good but it is limited to what it can do because of the fixed direction, with the Canon speedlite you can direct the flash to capture the action and activity going on in a room without shadows or washout from being too close to something when the flash goes off..
Other items I recommed to have are a wireless remote, an RF one not and IR one (good for getting you into the pictures) IR or infrared ones you need to be directly in front of the camera to work and nothing can be blocking its view of the camera, RF ones work no matter where you are in relation to the camera and work over a greater distance.
A decent tri-pod (cheapo ones are okay but will let you down when used outside on a lightly breezy day, not because it will blow over but because the camera will shake leading to less then perfect pictures when shooting something faraway or with long exposure times like sunsets, sunrises, moon pictures or night sky pictures.)
A mono-pod for repetitive shooting of sports events or outdoor shots in the evenings when you need to be steady but don't need to setup a full tri-pod

Great flash for taking indoor photos of the kids. I didn't have to read the instruction manual. Just put it on your Canon digital camera, turn it on, wait a few seconds and then you can take great photos. Very good for the lazy photographer. I wish I bought it earlier.

I will cut short.
* I am a male standard size, the places of the buttons are wrong, very hard to use, you'll get finger-ache.
* Ergonomy 2/10
* LCD display 6/10
* Record quality 5/10
My unit broke after 5 mins of recording. (I think this is a very important point, it broke NOT immediately.)
If you want to buy this unit, first begin recording and wait at least 10 mins.
Because i am a international customer, Canon and Vanns were upset(!?) And they did NOT help me. Just pointing out their sadness and giving meaningless suggestions.
I thought myself the meaning of the word that U.S. discovered: "Globalization". Globalization my a.. .

I am extremely impressed with this camera, both the video and still shot capability. The video is sharp and clear and one can put over two hours on a 16 GB SDHC card in the FXP mode (next to the highest resolution). It indexes each video 'segment' as a thumbnail making it easy to review any segment and even delete that segment if one desires. Since there is no motor to spin a hard drive or tape drive, the battery life is excellent.

This is a great Camcorder! It's small, and very responsive. The still picture quality and video's are both great. I highly recommend this camera. The night shots are on par with other cameras in my opinion. You won't get professional quality in the dark with a consumer camera. All in all, I'm glad I made this purchase, it's a great deal for $599!

It's a little on the small side, so it can be hard to hold. Other than that, it's great. Video quality is good and I just take it straight off of the SD card instead of using the software interface. I find the software unreliable and incomplete at best.
