The 5 ink cartridges come all individually wrapped. I was able to install these ink cartridges with no problems. I was pleasantly surprised that they work just as well as the OEM cartridges. However, I should warn you that these cartridges may potentially leak if you're not careful.



To minimize the chances for leakage:



Remove a plastic clip from the cartridge while making sure the cartridge is in the upright position. Remove a sticker on the top of the cartridge. The sticker has a tab you can pull for easy removal. It seals off a tiny hole that, when exposed, allows for the flow of ink at the bottom of the cartridge. It is crucial that you don't tip or squeeze the cartridge while you're removing the sticker. Once the sticker is removed, it's ready for use.



Optional: you might want to shake or wipe off any excess ink that may be collected on the bottom of the cartridge as an extra precaution against drippage.

The bottom line: these ink cartridges work very nicely but their installation can be a little tricky (-1 Star). They are very economically priced and will save you a bundle if you do a lot of printing.

This is the 4th time I buy these cartridges - because the print quality is good. Installation is very messy, one or the other cartridge always leaks all over my hands and the only way to clean up is with dilute Chlorox! (about 5:1) followed by soap. Wearing rubber gloves is even better.

The yellow cartridge was only 1/2 full.

I think this is an awesome deal and I do not know why I didn't think of Amazon.com to buy these sooner. Going to Office Max or Office Depot for the ink 5 pack cost me well over $80 and I was thinking of dumping this printer and getting one with less ink cartridges. This pretty much saved me from making a dumb decision.

 "So Far So Good" 2009-10-16

I don't have much history with the product but, so far so good. I have a Canon Pixma printer and have paid big $ over the last three for new ink cartridges. My printer is in absolutely fine shape but at this point I was willing to take a risk with these cartridges. I read all the caveats about spillage and, I have to admit, I was willing to pay $16 just to see whether I received a decent product or a box full of ink -- a cheap thrill!



The box arrived promptly and the units were sealed in shrink wrap (so no risk of mess at this point). Since I didn't immediately need any installed, I set them upside down on a shelf until I did need them several weeks later. I was *VERY* careful opening the shrink wrap and held the cartridge over scrap paper and, sure enough, a couple of droplets made their way out of the cartridge. I had my very own leaky China ink cartridge! Yeah! I then carefully installed the cartridge, leaving it upside down until it was time to click in. I clicked in, closed up the printer and it started printing.



The cartridges are about 80% identical in looks to the original but don't seem to be as well made. Sorry, no microscopic analysis of the print quality -- it just looked normal. If anything goes wrong I'll update. Otherwise, I'm definitely going to continue using these (with careful installation) due to the significant $ savings.

REVISED REVIEW:



Used these cartridges in my Canon MP610.

Very sceptical at first because the ink looked very liquid in these cartridges - a thing I never experienced on the original Canon product...

Very sceptical also because I am a professional photographer and use this printer only to print high quality pictures for customers...

At first I replaced only two empty cartidges and not all 5. No problems at all. I then changed my mind, thinking it may be better (more safe) not to mix Canon and this new product - I replaced all of them.



Results:

1. I was not able to see much of a difference in results of picture quality between the Canon cartridges and this product! Maybe a bit lighter than the Canon ink.

2. I then tried black and white pictures which came out in good quality but showed a slight blue touch.

3. I then tried to print a regular document which came out unreadable. Changing the printer setting to highest quality, a usable print came out, but rather grey than black print.



The surprise I had the following morning when I tried to print a regular document - the sheet came out white with no print at all. Looks like one of the black cartridges does not work. I was not able to print any black print document at all and paper just comes out white.

Trying now photos again, showed reasonable results but I am very worried now about my printer and will go out to buy Canon again.

I've performed the deep cleaning on my computer now about five times just trying to get the yellow ink to work and it will not. I am using up all my other ink just trying to get the one to work. This is a huge waste of money and a waste of my time just trying to get it to work like it should. Unfortunately I will stick with the expensive stuff. I'm very disappointed.

The first picture I printed came out okay. The second was okay for the top quarter and then the blue stopped. I cleaned the print heads several times and sometimes there's blue and sometimes not. All the colors are faint. My old Canon blacks are working as they should.

Took a chance based overall good reviews on the non-oem ink, and let me tell you, it works! For this price its a steal, works wayyyy better than canon oem cartridges imo. highly recommended!
