It is a perfect everyday lens to photograph very well outdoor events where appropriate actions near and far. It is made of lightweight plastic, it is easy to carry, but I do not want to drag it out - especially if extended to 300mm. All in all I am very happy with my purchase. Focus is slower than my D50's kit lens, and it is noisy but not annoying. The only odd feature is manual focus, internal gears, so you do not solve the feeling of the gears whirring when you turn the focus ring, it feels a little rough. Nikon model of this lens has no manual focus switch on the lens, use the camera button. A bonus with this lens is that it's good for macro photography. I was able to take clear pictures of flowers up close with a few backgrouds blurred completely. The lens has a lot of light, but 300mm is not very practical in so it is ideal for outdoor activities daytime photos with hot shoe flash lens performs very well indoors. The zoom action is a bit fast for my taste. Only a half turn in the barrel and go 28-300! You have a light touch at just the right focal length to get. I bought this lens instead of the Nikon 70-300 G 28-300 is a more useful range, but you sacrifice speed (6.3 instead of 5.4 maximum aperture of 300 mm). I love this lens, by Ronan arbor I want this lens - even though I am not using as much as I did for a while. My Nikon 18-200VR has replaced the usefulness of this lens, especially since upgrading to a D200 with 10 megapixels, you can zoom up to 200 points and then washed. But it is a solid lens that has a nice size and weight, and focal length is great No problems noted in both nodes of 28 or 300, but Sharper Image is between 100 and 200 Light corner thinning to 300, but similar to the Nikkor 70-300, so I can not really complain. I like the Sigma 28-300 Macro Digital Photographers, I had the lens for about a year old was the EOS body, not a problem with the interface between Canon or Sigma, worked fine. I've heard about some incompatibilities between Sigma and Canon, but it did not happen for me. Recently bought the new Canon EOS Elan 7NE, Sigma works well with this body also. Optically, yes, there is some distortion at some focal lengths, but nothing really terrible, the color is excellent, love up almost anywhere in the goal. Critics of this range of lenses Never discuss what it really is like having a camera bag full of purpose and are always ready for anything, which is a huge plus, and he does what he has to do quite well, so if planning the re-shooting for National Geographic, this may not be the goal for you, but if you're a boy or a girl who loves photography, buy, you can t go wrong.
