We just got the camera and I am still trying to work it correctly. I took a lot of pictures on Vacation but have not developed any yet

I purchased the Canon A2000IS for my teenage daughter to replace a Nikon Coolpix that had lens problems due to cheap plastic gear construction. (Nikon will repair the camera while under warranty but as soon as the warranty expires, you're on your own. They want to charge you even though it was repaired previously under their warranty. Goodbye, Nikon)
After much searching and consultation with my daughter we/I decided on the Canon A2000IS because it offers more for the price. The major factors in the decision, other than price, were Canon quality (I own two Canons) and the size of the zoom. My daughter was apprehensive because she thought the camera was "ugly" and too big. The camera arrived just in time for her to take to a "Jonas Brothers" concert. She returned from the concert exclaiming, "This camera is amazing".
She is happy with the picture quality, battery life, speed, and zoom. The flash recharge is a little slow, but she doesn't seem to mind. She does wish it was a little smaller so she could carry it in her pocket. The memory card that is included by Canon is way too small and is only sufficient to test the camera. Hello, Canon it would only cost a few dollars more to include a functional card. I immediately up graded the memory card to a faster and larger 8Gb.

One year and three weeks after I purchased this camera it stopped working. It had been working well until this point. The battery is fully charged. Of course the warranty is up. The camera won't turn on! This camera had come highly recommended and I was very satisfied with it - I had another model of Canon before this and also had problems which is what prompted me to buy this camera. This is the last Canon I will ever purchase. I paid $200 for it and should have gotten way more than one year out of it.

Pros:
Nice price, easy-to-use (both camera and software), convenient in hand, small size.
Better zoom and response times than on my previous camera.
Cons:
Hard to see the screen in bright daylight. And no viewfinder to compensate this.
Less settings (presets) than on my previous Powershot A85 (and sometimes I really miss them).
Image quality rapidly drops in low-light scenes (dim indoor light, night scenes outdoors). And not much presets to compensate this.

I purchased this camera for my daughter, who attends college. I have been into 35MM photography for years and hadn't had much experience with any point and shoot camera. When it arrived we took it out together for its first run and I was very surprised just how good these little cameras do perform. The picture quality is excellent and the camera is a snap to use. Even in the easy mode it still took outstanding pictures. I have always considered myself a Canon man, since all five of my SLR's are Canons, but the A2000IS was even better than I imagined. I'm not recommending this camera to an experienced photographer who likes to set up his own shots, but to someone that is just starting out or someone that isn't into photography but just wants to take some good family snapshots, this would be a camera I would put high on my list.
