It 'so clear if you take you can not see the glass in a metal ring. This is not a UV lens, lens is a neutral Clear. The F2.8 lens deserve this treatment for vascular F. Keat UV filters are usually more people are buying mainly just to protect the lens, so I am I never squeamish about filters UV or NC, so I solved all my Hoya filters (basically I bought some Hoya filters as a special circular polarizer, and Star-8) and I liked Hoya filters up to a month ago. I picked up a used VR Nikkor 105 mm F2.8 Macro, the previous owner sold it to me along with the 62 mm Nikon NC filter fitted. I was amazed by the clarity of the Nikon NC Filter You can verify this by simply putting the filters on a sheet of white paper to check the clarity. Hoya UV has a little 'yellow, if Nikon is clearly a winner. I threw my 77 mm UV Hoya and I had a 77 mm Nikon NC filter.
